I have a friend who practices with nunchuks.
I would love to show him up a bit.

What is the best way to take them away from him???

Not a good idea... But If I had to do it? Use a staff or stick and try to let them wrap around it then trap the nunchuck and pull them out of his hand.

Again, unless you want to get bruised up I wouldn't do it. Unless they are practice nunchuks, not the kind that would hurt.

Okey. Being a Martial Artist you must first apply your brain. Lets break it down.

He is using a weapon  Illegal in most states due to the high amount of PIS this Tool delivers.

Now If you were in a Hopeless Defensive situation.
Remember. The weapon is only an extension of his hand. So The Hand is his weakpoint. IF you get control of his hand you have control of the Weapon. How you do that is on you.
If you observe the Nunchaku you will notice it takes alot of leverage to use correctly in "striking" Meaning it needs alot of space to be used to strike at a further distance. So If you are the Target of this Deadly weapon... Eliminate that space. Give it no Ground. The closer you are to the hand the less likely the weapon will be efficient.

I suggest you Practice with the "Foam" Nunchaku for safety sake. Apply yourself. You dont train for nothing.

How would like too do it with a mag or a soft cover booklet?
My old teacher told me a true story about his Karate studies in Okinawa. He came in to the DoJo with a Nunchuka in his Obi (belt), Master Sokon said, What are you doing with that? My teacher who was a student at that time, Said,"I want to learn this weapon. Master Sokon pick up a magizine, rolled it up and told my teacher to strike him hard. My teacher aimed for his shoulder and Master Sokon stepped to the side And hit the Nunchua at the string part of the Nunchuka and the Nunchuka wrapped around the magizine and hit my teacher on the knuckles! Master Sokon then said, " now you know something, now put them away till you want to know something more"!

This is Very possible. But remember this Person you describe was an Instructor, you are a student. As I stated above. Experiment. Your Training for a reason. Training...menaing still learning. Use what you know, and expand it. Good luck.

The Sharpshooter  key chain can be used as a defense it's real hard to drop
and faster than nunchuks.

A Blind person can not hit you with anything Shocked
Don't do this to your Friend, but if you are Seriously attacked, then pick up a hand full of Dirt, or a Big Rock, or a Chair = Pick up something and hit him with it Grin

When an opponent comes forward, move in and greet him; if he wants to pull back, send him on his way.

Allow your attacker to come to you, but you get there first.
