As the subject says. Has anyone ever used one in a self defense type of situation?

I used to have one. Never had to use it for real but in practice you can really apply some very intense pressure causing alot of pain.

I have the "ninja" version with the two prongs that go between your fingers. I agree about the intense pressure. I would hate to get hit with one.

I Myself, Have Dedicated my time and training to apply My Kubaton And Koshi-No-Bo In all aspects of the arts. It is an extension of all Waza and Kata that I use for ,
COMPLIANCE
, to cause pain without causing Injury. I have used my compliance tools in many defense situations during my Job. It is Effective and the the point. But I must add. To use it correctly it takes months to apply it Just right. With that said, Most defense situations, almost 99% of the time Never go according to your training, which makes it that much harder.

KUBATON ??
THE SHARP SHOOTER KEY CHAIN IS SMALLER WHEN CLOSED BUT WHEN OPEN IT HAS A MUCH BETTER RANGE. A STUDENT OF MINE USED ONE IN SELF DEFENSE IN BOSTON YES IT WORKED. THE REASON IT WAS MADE THE WAY IT IS. SO EASY TO CARY AND VERY HARD TO DROP WHEN DEFENDING YOURSELF THAT'S A BIG PROBLEM WITH A KOBATON. THE TRUTH TO IT IS MOST PEOPLE FIND A LARGER KEY CHAIN TO MUCH TO LUG WITH THEM SO THE END UP NOT BRINGING IT WITH THEM OR LEAVE IT IN THER CAR. IT'S EVERYTHING A KUBATON IS AND MUCH MORE. WATCH THE VIDEO ON THIS SITE. ONCE YOU USE ONE YOU CAN'T GO BACK IT'S LIKE GOING BACK TO THE TYPEWRITER. DON'T JUST LOOK AT THE PIE TRY IT THEN MAKE YOUR CHOICE.

I still carry mine with me. Even if I never need to use it for self defense it does make a good key chain. It also very nice to know that I have it when needed.

Hi Scott; In my humble opinion, the only purpose your Kubaton is good for, is a Key Chain
Have you or any one else that "think" a Kubaton is such a great weapon -Try some Reality Training - Just put your Kubaton in your pocket(that is where you all carry them, is in your pocket - Coat, pants, it don't matter) Then have your training partner attack you from , oh, lets say from 6 feet away
I would bet that no one could get that kubaton out of their pocket fast enough to use it
Also, in what type of situation would you use it anyway
A Mugging Perhaps, or at a party, where some one has had too much to drink, and wants to fight you
There is a Great Saying "Do Not Rise To The Level Of Your Expectations, But Fall To The Level Of Your Training"
Scott, by and large, the only people that claim that these weapons are good, is the people that sell them
Give it a try - Have Master Lambert attack you from, Hell - 3 feet away, then get back too me, on how affective your kubaton was

YOUR RIGHT THE THE SHARP SHOOTER IS NO KUBATON IT'S LIKE A STEEL WHIP. YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HIT BY IT TRUST ME AND I FIND MYSELF HOLDING IT IN MY HAND OR SHOULD I SAY WEARING IT ON MY HAND A LOT MORE THAN NOT. IF YOU THINK IT WON'T WORK YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE DEFEATED BY IT. I TEACH KNIFE FIGHTING AND I WOULD RATHER HAVE THE SHARP SHOOTER THAN A KNIFE. THE KUBATON IS NOT TRI SECTIONAL AND HAS NOT MUCH RANGE AND IT IS ONLY USABLE IN CLOSE DISTANCE.
IF YOU CARRY A SELF-DEFENSE DEVICE YOU SHOULD CARRY IT IN HAND WHEN OUT SIDE YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE CHANCE TO PULL IT OUT.
AS MARTIAL ARTIST WE ALL KNOW THIS SO IF YOU DON'T YOU BETTER BE GOOD WITH YOUR HANDS.
THE SITUATION IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN NO ONE LIKE MASTER LAMBERT IS GOING TO ATTACK YOU. GOD HELP YOU IF HE DOES! YOU WILL NEED MORE THAN A LITTLE KUBATON THAT'S ONLY GOOD IN CLOSE RANGE.
WITH JUST 3 KEYS ON MY SHARP SHOOTER I SPLIT A APPLE IN HALF TRY THAT WITH A KUBATON. ANY ONE WHO KNOWS ME WILL TELL YOU I AM NOT IN THIS FOR THE MONEY AND I HAVE GAVE MORE SHARP SHOOTERS TO PEOPLE THAN I HAVE SOLD. I LOVE PEOPLE AND WANT TO HELP MAKE THEM SAFE. I KNOW THIS DEVICE WILL SAVE LIVES AND THAT IS A GOOD REASON TO HAVE INVENTED A DEVICE THAT'S LEGAL EASY TO HOLD AND HARD TO DROP. I DONT LIKE MOST KEY CHAIN DEVICES BECAUSE THEY ARE EASY TO DROP HAVE NO RANGE AND I USE MY FINGERS BETTER TO POINTS. THE KUBATON HAS NO CORD FOR TRAPING OR CHOKING IT'S USE IS LIMITED.

Good Morning
I completly agree with YOU - I was ONLY TALKING about that silly "Kubaton"
Again, you have misunderstood Me
I can tell that YOU are only trying to HELP with your inventions, so relax, i'm on YOUR SIDE
Now, as far as ANY Hand Weapon - Of course you would to have it in your hand for it too be any value, thats a giveme
Now as far as Master Lambert Attacking anyone - NO **** -HE IS a MASTER
I just used his name for Mr. Scott, because Master Lambert is Scott's Teacher
If a Little Girl attacked you and you had your hand weapon (dosn't matter what it is) in your pocket You not going to get it out of your pocket in time. - Now, go back to Scott's post - Did he not say that he use it as a key chain - and they are carried in your POCKET, are they not
That was the reason i said what i said - cause they don't work if you have it in your pocket
Just one more thing - Don't You People Train in Kyusho

I actually have too many keys to carry it in my pocket. Which I guess will make it work better with more weight on the end of it.
If I am outside walking to or from my truck I always have it in my hand usually swinging it (mostly for fun or out of boredom walking to my destination).
But I agree if it was in my pocket I dont think I could pull it out in time to really use it effectively.

You are a funny guy- You reming me of my Son, who is the same age you are
Also, in my humble opinion "Pepper Spray", not "Mace", but PEPPER SPRAY, Is one of the "Best" Self-defense Items That There Is
But, of course, the Rub is that You Do Need To Have It In Your Hand - Think about it, A Weapon Will (Harm)(hurt)(break something), but "Good Old Pepper Spray" Will Not (Harm)(Hurt)(Break Anything)
And, there "Small" - You Could Cary A Whole Bunch Of Them
Now, I'm not saying don't cary a weapon
When I was Working, I had a pare of "Sap Gloves" - Use them on several occasions, when we were up against a Hostel group ect,.. But, I Have Used "Pepper Spray" more times then i can count --- Worked Every Time ---
