My tip would be,that you shoud pay attension to your basic tecniques...usually when we are forced to use martial arts skills,we use the most basic ones.In a real situation, there is no time to do any fancy movements, only the simple ones. But if you launced perfectly done basic tecnique with perfect timing and on right place,it suddenly become advance tecnique!
So my advice is,that study your basics and study them good...after awhile you will noticed, that you have nice collection of advance techniques, that most likely will work, when you need them to work.

YOU SHOULD GET A FEELING IF THE SITUATION IS GOING TO END IN A FIGHT. IF THIS IS THE CASE MAKE THEM BELIEVE YOU ARE SCARED AND DON'T WANT ANY PROBLEMS THEN TAKE THEM OUT BEFORE THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO COUNTER. THE INTENT SHOULD BE PERMANENT INJURY THIS IS NOT CHEATING THIS IS THE WAY OF STREET FIGHTING. A SMART STREET FIGHTER IS A GOOD BULL ****TER THE TRICK IS TO GET THE TO THINK YOU ARE NOT A FIGHTER UNTIL IT'S TO LATE FOR THEM. DON'T EVER SQUARE UP WITH YOUR ATTACKER RATHER LET HIM SQUARE UP WITH YOU. TAKE A SAFE PASIVE LOOKING POSITION BUT A STUCTURLY SOUND POSITION. BE LIKE A MAGICIAN LET HIM THINK YOU ARE GOING TO DO SOMETHING PASSIVE THEN EXPLODE INTO YOUR REAL INTENTION. THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME MANY TIMES. MOST PEOPLE HAVE 1 OR 2 SUCKER MOVES YOU AS A MARTIAL ARTIST SHOULD HAVE A LOT MORE AND YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF ALL THE MOST COMMON ONES PEOPLE USE SO YOU ARE NOT THE VICTOM OF THIS TYPE OF FIGHTING METHOD.

If ever a time you are attacked by an assailant please do not try to be a hero, I had seen so many people die just because of their pride.  Although most of us are trained to fight we must be smart and not risk our lives.

I know this is thread necromancy, so you can all kick me to the curb if you want. But my tip is to solidly train in high percentage techniques.

Agreed. We must remember to use head (Knowledge) before hands. Smiley
