okay, Ive read alot of blog postings on this site where people are requesting tips on how to get to pressure points, how hard to hit, and when.

The first tip i want to make is focus on your kata. Once you understand and fine tune your kata to near perfection, your body movements will help you understand these points.  Even americanized forms have meanings.

have someone stand infront of you, put their hands on you in combat situations. at first just have them pose.  I often have my ten year old daughter help me simulate self defense situations.  have someone place their hand on your shoulder and think about which kata move would be applied. where your hand touches their body, is the transulation of the point.  take a second to think on how you got there, this would typically be the angle of attack.

Once you master the location (please spend more than 20 minutes on this) slowly introduce your tatics by slowly hitting the point.  please use 1% power to acheive the contact.  watch your partner's reaction.  if you hit Liver 6 when your partner has his/ her hand on your shoulder, they should react by WANTING to remove their hand from you. key word wanting.

Then slowly ratchet yourself up to 10%.  if you have a partner you like, NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER use more than 10% power on your partner.  the point of pressure point excersizing chi striking is to LEARN.  If 10% power is going to get results to a mininum, 100% is goiing to be devistating.

Use the tap out system when working chi striking.  Some people respond to little pressure where some dont respond at all.  have your partner tap their leg or say stop when applying these techniques. remember these people are your partners if you hurt them too much, you will not have any playmates.

Last but not least, DO NOT use more than three points in a 36 hour period.  give your partner a chance to heal.  it is useless to hit the same points or differant points and expect differant results when your partner is already soft.  remember you are only training.

There are lots of karate porn on you-tube and the open market where sensational knock outs are being performed.  If you are hungry for an ego driven knock out watch karate porn.  A good porn video i just saw was where a guy knocked out another guy with a stink eye. good luck  Roll Eyes

I tried to send you my background in a message but Im not sure.

I studied dragon kung-fu and shorn-ru karate for five years in centeral wisconsin.  My sinse' didnt teach much kata but focused on pressure point (chi) striking.  we would focus on angle and direction, with an emphises on the differant styles approach to pressure point and also focused on the meanings of the few katas we studied.  I also had the benefit of having 2 general family practitioner MD's to train  with, where we learnt about pain and the long term effects of along with diagrams from their medical resouce materials.

Recently, Ive moved to the Lacrosse area where I studed american karate for 6 months, I just recently found a fellow purest and study american kempo and american boxing at a colledge campus.

Thanks for your background. It seems you really know a thing or two about pressure points. Glad to have you here.
