everyday or once a week is not a good idea..............
it is best to train 3 or 4 days a week and a 2 day break in a week is necessary to recover from the wear and tear due to training

I instruct 3 or 4 classes a week, but I train 3 days a week for an hour and a half in the dojo. I practice kata at home every day for about 20 minutes.

I study Shuri Ryu and Ryu kyu kempo. I practice the 5 pinan kata 3 times each everyday. I choose 1 Shuri kata and practice it 3 times after that.

I found that three time a day is the magic number.

Do you have a favorite kata? I noticed you like to use naihanchi alot, I love that one, too. Empi sho? Another fave. I think I like almost all the kata I've learned.

I also find Naihanchi to be one of my favorites. Master Lambert's Shin Shu kata is also one of my top three.

we don't practice the old kata much any more sonetimes we do, but not often Nahanchi 1 2 and 3 was at one time my favorites, at one time we practiced all the older Okinawa kata from the Shorin ryu system By Master H. S, and F.K. Under R.G. But the only kata I practice is Shi n Shu kata. it's about one hundred and twenty methods long, each with three to seven applications. all have pp. and is very hard to perform It is all the martial arts Iv'e learned kick up a step incorp all into one. Scout is building his own kata, he has been working on it for around a year now. It is a shorter Kata than Shin Shu kata about 25-30 techniques at this point. Kata building is a great way to find out what you really know! and you can build your own applications and pp.

Hello Gentleman; In reading some of your posts - I geather that most of you are training in a "Hard Style"? Well, i gess that does not matter - but if i can, let me give another way to practice - and that is too use your Imagination along with Visualizing your techniques - I do this when i'm unable to physically practice! Your brain does not care if your physically practing a kata, or a technique taken from your kata, it will help you memorize anyway!
