Steven Segal is a Master of Akido. He has also been in many movies.
Try a search on youtube.com for Steven Segal. You will find many good video clips of his movies as well as his seminars.

Yes he is for real and not just an actor. I've seen some of his old videos from when he used to teach Aikido. (Does he still teach?)

He was teaching multiple attacker techniques in the video I watched.

Hi

I like his movies, but he is definately more movie star then Martial artist.

A lot of people confuse the 2 like with Little Bruce, who Gene Le Bell also battered. LOL

There is not record of him (steven) using his fighting skills outside the dojo, apart from when Gene le Bell battered him.

And Gene is a lot older and smaller than Steven.

lol I don't think that being "a lot older and smaller than" somebody is a disadvantage in martial arts. Masaaki Hatsumi]=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaaki_Hatsumi]Masaaki Hatsumi is much smaller and older than me and would kick my butt into next week if I got into a fight with him.

Steven Segal is using his skills outside of a dojo more than most martial artists ever do by using his knowledge to enhance his acting career. Its not like martial artists are out street fighting every day, most never get into a real fight.

Now don't think that I idolize Steven Segal or anything because I'm defending him a bit. I think his movies are "ok" but not great.

Just to clear up any confusion I know smaller people can sometimes beat larger people lol

Yes but the stuff in his fims is pretend martial arts as steven has often pointed out to people.

It seems to irritate him as much as me when people cant differentiate the two.

Steven Segal; Had his own Dojo in Japan for how long (i don,t know), but just the Fact that He Taught in Japan, should tell all of you that are Skeptical that He was, and still is a Very Competent. He's Ego has grown quite a bit, because of the Movie Star Business, but, in my humble opinion, he is a better Aikido Player then he is as a Movie Star Grin

As Ive said before his first wife was Japanese and his teacher,
It was her fathers dojo he taught at.

His father in law put him over his daughter as they dont tend to like women in Japan as much as guys apparently.

He got upgraded by him from first dan to a much higher grade.

Not so impressive when you know the facts?

Sounds like there were politics involved, which really does not matter to me--The FACT REMAINS - He is a VERY COMPETENT with His Aikido!
I had an assignment in California, where I met some of Master Segal's Stunt Men. They were complaining that Master Segal was just a little too hard when executing the Waza's in his Movies -
