One of my favorite Shoalin story's
There was a man from far away who stopped a Shoalin priest and showing proper respect by bowing his head down to the grown asked, please sir, teach me the power of Soalin Gung Fu. The Master noticing the mans respect said come. they went out into a field of cattle the priest pick up a calf and handed it to the man which he held in his arms and the priest said come and the man followed the priest to a small pine tree. the master said to the man" this is your calf forever you will take care of this calf all it's life and now jump over this small pine sappling five times each day,and in time you will learn the power of Shoalin training. and the man, every day jumped over the pine sappling five times. but, in time, he started feeling he was learning nothing about the power of Shoalin training. Two year later the man went home to his father house, and his father asked, what did you learn at the Shoalin temple. the man said" I learned nothing! the father then said, well what did you do for two year there? the man took his father out side and said, this is what I did. he pick up the full grown cow with his two hands and jumped over a full grown pine tree, five times. the father was dumb founded.
This story is a Zen Cone which is something to remember and thing about as you train. why? because the unnatural can become natural and then the supernatural can become natural also.
That is the power of the Shoalin.

Tom my freind, Here is a zen cone, There was a Zen Master at the bank of a river meditateing. A disiple stop to watch him, because he noticed that the master was swaying back and forth side to side, Because of the great amount of Qi coursing through his body as he sat there. the disiple sat there near the Master for about three hour and when the Master awoke, and stood on his feet, the disiple walk up and said, Master can I ask you a question. the Master bowed and the disiple gave his question. What is the deepest secret of Qi Gung? The master paused a moment, then he pointed to the sky, paused again and pointed to the river. the Master then walk away.
Tom this is how Zen works, with a cone. a cone is a puzzle that you place in the mind, and in time the answer just pops out. So place the story in the mind and see what come to you. And if anyone out there feels they know the answer give it to use.

Two monks were walking along a river when they noticed a woman tryin to cross with a basket of goods. The first monk crossed the river and carried the woman across. About a quarter mile down the path, the second monk said to the first "you broke protocal by carring that woman." the first monk said "I carried that woman across the river, you carried her for a quarter mile."
