Naihanchi it's not just a kata it's a complete martial arts system. People who say you can't fight with kata as a system have no idea of what karate is. There are few who understand how to do this. This is what has for the most part been lost. KARATE IS KATA. SPARRING HAS EVOLVED INTO SOMETHING MUCH DIFFERENT THAN KARATE. THIS IS THE SAD TRUTH.

Did you know if you put all 3 naihacnhi kata togehter, cut your body in half top and bottom, you can interchange every movement?  Break that down.

There are three way to think of kata, 1; Kata is a single move. 2; Kata is a combination of single move which make a techinque. 3: kata is form which means combination of techniques.
What Master Morn is saying is, Nahanchi Sho-dan (mastered) is all that is needed to come out victorious in any combat situation. That is all thats needed to come out on top. I might add that if Nahanchi Ni-dan or San-dan is (Mastered) can only add to your that kind of out come, but with just the mastery of the one kata (form) Sho-dan is all thats needed.
Master Moran would know because he Know more about the Nahanchi Kata than anyone I have ever seen. I would say he is the Grand master of the kata Nahanchi. I haven't seen anyone he or his students can beat just using Sho-dan ONLY!  His Nahanchi dills and sets are old school And are completely unknown today.

That being said, the three Nahanchi can be combined to make a wide range of techniques and if you can all kata can and sould be combine in a positive stance defeating way as shown by Master Moran.

I totally agree about Naihanchi shodan.  I just thought it was kinda cool to know that.  We broke down the whole kata and tried different movements, like the feet placement from a movement in shodan, then picked a hand technique from sandan and put them together.  Just a little bit of trivia I thought someone might find useful or interesting.
