Master Earl Montague is a top rate soft art pressure point instructor which I have in the past spoke to at length by way of e-mail. The soft arts and the hard arts forms teach the same things in a different way. the soft art blocks and attacks at the same time, hard arts block first then attack second. A student of karate will find that soft art has less power in striking than the one-two design of hard sytles. But karate will progress the one-two system to move like the softer arts and the soft art will mentally seperate block from strike slightly and hard and soft become the same thing in the end.
So if you are a student of a hard system like Kara te you may fine Master Montague ways of defense hard to learn as far as power toward the attack of a point strike. So start with a one-two mind set and work towards a single movement. This is the key for the hard systems to learn from the softer art forms as the soft form may find more power in seperating block from attack.
