Thank you for the welcome....I really want to learn forms of martial arts....I am 18 and have always wanted to learn, probably have power rangers to blame for that lol. I really have never took any kind of lessons tho, so some of the reading is kind of difficult, but only when its talking about the different kinds of fist, forms, kicks, and block (really just what they stand for)...but anyways thanx  Smiley

These is very hard to explain and everyone has there own theorys. I will start with a question. were you ever afraid that something was going to jump out at you? What did you do? thing about it, and try to remember, what did your feet do? waht did your hands do? Did you step back crossing your arms across your face? Did you hop to one side? what did you do? think about it. got it? ok

I define martial arts as, one mans gut reaction to a dangerous situation. on top of a neither mans gut reaction to a dangerous situation on top of a neither mans reaction to a dangerous situation an don and on!  There is no more mystery than that. What would you do if a fire cracker was tost in front of you? Adressing a kiick or a puck a grab a lock is nothing more than a gut reaction to a situation. and by way of nature and the spirit you already know martial arts! but when you go to a school to learn techniques you should be learning to trust your natual reactions by practicing by way of Kata (forms) and two man drills a gut natual reaction to situations you have not face yet. What would you do if you a put into a headlock? every school has several ways to deal with it some good some not so good. weather they are good or bad does not matter fore even if you learn bad techniques, you will learn what not to do! and you can expand from there. But the answer is to get down to what is quick and natual what come out from the inside of you. and the WAY is to fine tune it by way of practicing that gut reaction over and over and over again. There is only one rule in combat,  men who have not practiced there techniques till they are a natual gut reaction. the lucky one will win. If a man with little practice confronts a man that has alot of practice, the one with little will lose. So the rule is if I practice technique long than my opponent I will win! This is not just my rule, it is a basic rule from the Shoalin. temple.
