Specific forearm / neck KO combo
«
on:

I have seen a certain pp knockout done by several different people and I am curious about it.
I am not fluent in pp language yet so bear with me. The attacker steps into the opponent into a side-stance of sort with his right shoulder facing the opponent's chest. The attacker strikes the the opponent's right arm about halfway between the wrist and the elbow. Open hand chop-style strike to ? pp.
The second strike is the attacker moving that same hand up to the neck and striking the right side of the opponent's neck. The neck strike seems to be about the middle of the neck.
This two-strike combo seems to be quite effective in producing a flash KO. Can anyone explain which two points are being struck here, and the techniques in this sequence?
Thank you.

No I am not using a student to test this KO at this time. I have just seen this particular KO several times and am trying to understand the theory and technique behind it.

Hi Flockaduck.
I have seen that technique demo'd a few times. it is a very dangerous technique. Perhaps Master Lambert can chime in here.

its a devestating move. I use it in the strictest of situations, and you really shouldnt "use" a student to pratice with. If you do find someone too play with, you can use only 10% power. (that's how I learned)
its a great move against a well placed hand on one's shoulder, or an intercepted straight punch.
The first strike should be a fist or an open chop going inward with a "c" or cutting motion into the Lung 6 aucupuncture point. practice this motion first until you master it. Lung 6 is located on the inside of the arm beteeen the wrist and forearm. When you strike you want to slide your striking object roughtly 2-4 inches on the opponant. When you do this in practice with only about 10% power your "dummy" will have a feeling of pins and needles. Again, please PLEASE do this (along with any other pressure point strking) with 10% power.
the second move is pretty simple. after you make the strike with an open hand Lung 6 strike, you can stike the neck with an open strike. the best is right dead center of the neck straight in. If the person doesnt respond, i put a little cup on the second strike and go for just a tad bit on the back of the neck. the main goal is to hit the jugular. this is the knock out, when you hit the jugular, the blood pressure drops and the person passes out.

Got it... Thank you very much for responding to my post. And yes I would only ever test this at 10% power.. In all actuality, I'll probably never even practice much of this. I only ask after being involved in karate for fifteen years, achieving a 1st Dan, and because I appreciate the 'art' of the martial arts.
Thank you again! I'll post more questions in the future.

which PP is the neck strike?

One more question popped up here... Which pp are you striking on the neck? The explanation of the target point on the neck is a little vague... Which point are we striking on the neck, and which direction are we striking that neck point?
Thank you in advance.

when you hit the neck, you are pretty much going for the jugular more less. the concept is, when you hit jugular, the blood pressure dropps. however you can turn your hand and go for a face strike (on the cheek in a raking motion) it all depends on your kata.
I'd reccommend having someone stand infront of you cold with their hand on your shoulder and just walk yourself with 1% (or no) power and see where your kata positions take you.
A word of advise, based on situational awarness: What Ive found in bully situations proven in battle, once you hit the lung 6 area; it pushes the enemy arm away from you leaving them with the sensation of stinging needles goign up and down the arm. Alot of times (99%) that's enough to deter another attck. IT says "hey, im here and I mean business, if you touch me again Ill frickin kill you" the neck strike is a nice 1-2 combo.

Okay so we're aiming for the jugular. Now I have my PP paperwork/notes in front of me. It looks like to me the target may be LI-18.
My notes say it is a metal element. Angle & Direction: "A line of force connecting LI-18 on both sides of neck."
Activation: Touch or Hit
Polarity: Yang
----------
S-9 may also be this point we are talking about:
Element: Earth
Angle & Direction: "Strike with a penetrating blow on a 45 degree angle into the neck."
Activation: Hit
Polarity: Yang

Since L-6 is a Metal element, and the polarity is Yin.....
And both points I discussed in my previous points (LI-18 and S-9) are both Yang in polarity... Does that mean either point will work? I am still working on understanding how the Yin/Yang combos work....
In order to effect a KO, do you need to strike a Yin/Yang combo? Will two Yins or two Yangs produce the same effect?
I am asking because for academic purposes only ... Not practical purposes.. I would like to understand how you can put together "KO" combos by yourself, just by studying and understanding how the elements and polarity work together.
Thank you.

in my opinion percicion is important but not as important enough to trip yourself up.
what I mean is, if you hit the neck; your bound to hit something good. There are about 20 things that run up and down the neck that will hurt your opponant.
secondly, everyone is differant. I dont respond to pressure point strikes, because of nerve damage in my spine, i dont feel external pain. If I burn myself, I dont feel the pain until the tissue damage goes deep. same thing with pressure point, I feel that pain later (1-2 minutes after the strike)
Thirdly when you hit someone, there is a newtons law of motion applied. The harder and faster you swing, you will hit that target just as hard. When you hit someone in a soft tissue point, even if youre close to a pressure point; it causes swelling and bruising which will impact the pressure points in that area. in my opinion, the only need to understand specific accuracy is in grapling situation or where you are using your finger tips to strike.
lastly, your katas will teach you the angle and direction of poiosn, pressure, and grab points. I always tell people that are leaving the american styles to traditional is have a partner stand infront of them when they do kata. have the partner create street situation poses to see where your kata takes you. antoher good tip is poke yoruself. Discover on yourself where these points are and how it feels.

Hi,
Dont try this without proper instruction or at all if possible.
a1man it is not the jugular vein that lowers the blood pressure it is the carotid sinus.
It is a baroreceptor point.
There also several nerves here that will affect other organs
