It makes me sick!

I just watched a film clip were one student about 17 year old (white belt) gets K.O-ed about 5 time in a row! I don't know which one of them is the bigger idiot, the teacher or the student? The final strike on two of them was a reverse heel kick, to the back of the neck, a village soilder (from Nam) Showed me that kick in 1974, as a quick kill move, so what was all the other stuff for(energy drainage points)? The whole world is flooded with these people with on class They don't care thing one about there fellow man. It's really sad, Thank's M.G.D. The pitty of it is, he probably will get the humanitarian award of the year for it. how stupid!

Amen too that - Master Lambert; I used too KO a Person, before I gave a Class to my fellow Body Guards - Did not know any better back then - It was My Stupid EGO - I felt that I needed to do it so the rest of them would pay attention! Well My Teacher, Master Nonaka, caught me doing it,and that was the Last Time I Did It - Man, did I recieve an Ass Chewing!

Yes Sir; I remember some of what my Teacher said - He toled me that after all of the time that i spent training - I should have known that one of the reasons for my training was to get rid of the Ego! Those wern't his exact words, but it sure did make me think out side of the box

Its funny Tom, When I was Learning Buk Shoalin form a instructor in my town. He had a giant ego And also hated the fact that I studied karate too. He would often try to defeat me to prove to himself that Kung Fu was better than Kara-te. and when he would try he would loss, and that would make him mad and he would try even harder. One day his Master came to our school from China town, to teach us, when the instructor corrected the master in front of all the students! the next thing that happened was seeing some quick movement and seeing the ego of the Instructor smashed as he lay on the ground groining. I looked and secretly gigled inside myself, as the master turn and smiled at me, as if to say, Thank you Leni for your respect. Iv'e seen this happen many time, when the old U.S. ego, asks too many questions of a oriental master, with the sound of correction.

Yes Sir, some people need the s*** knocked out of them, inorder too remove the Ego
I can count myself lucky that, that didn't happen to me, because Master Nonaka Was Very Mad At me
I still get the Chills just remembering the Look on His Face

Its Great Too See that You have a Since of Hummer Master Lambert
I have had a Problem with That Very Same Thing, how many times - Well - how about every time
I Almost Always Have To Point It Out, That If You Don't Actually Try And Hit, or Grab, or Shove Me, Then I Can Not Teach You
The rub of that is, When your Student Understands that Concept - You Really Have To Keep Him In Your Peripheral, Cause The Next Time, He Will Try And Take Your Head Off
Ha, Ha, He, He
In my Humble opinion, its the "Intent" of the Uke - He does not want to hit his Sensei - Not his Falt, its the Respect Thing
I gess, that we are going to have too just remind them of Reality, what a Concept

ya! I hear ya, I have some time said " punch me" and without blocking I misses me totally, Then I ask, what was that? we laugh, then I say, "now Hit me"it will be four inches short? then in slow motion I say Hit -------- my-------face, like --------you--- are----- punching-------- through---- it. and the practice starts. but when I am at an other school, it weird's them out, they just can't do it. even instructor and some Masters do it and teach that way. I can see if you instruct children or any beginer for that matter white to green belt level have in some cases, no control, in that case I can see it. But new I see instructor who can deal with a students attack well many questions come up. I remember one Master who asked me to help him demo a technique, I had control with in a 16th of an inch and he could not block it, even though he knew it was coming! it ( the strike) was in and back before he could move. I slowed it down same thing happened. he had to call a black belt out of the group to demo with. It seems to be common today to do that ( the strike that automaticly misses) when practicing.

If I'm going to demo - A Waza, in defense of a Grabbing Attack, and if this is after i have explained to attack with intent I have to watch it, because what i like to do is go over the body movements at a slow pace at first
But, what Happens is the Uke will Grab ahold of me with street intent - forgetting that the first time he is supposed to have restraint
Its a ever ending problem

try this, TEN STRIKES, the first strike in slow motion, and increase intesity with every repitition the tenth being full out attack. with attacker striking harder each time as the defender work harder at his techs, till, on the tenth rep they are full out (war) then I step out of the way to stop action. when the student has gone over the top (so to speak).

Now, this is what it is All About - Sharing idea's, learning New Things
Thank You for the (Ten Strike Idea)
Question; Have you ever had to just let someone, like take a break from coming to class, because it was apparent they were not practicing, and not doing their home work
I had too, and it was real hard to do
Here are some of the reasons why i felt that i had too just let him go - He started to not come to class on a regular bases - he would miss class more and more, also There is a Kata (protect the temple) that he was working on for his "Sandan" - I would have to play catch-up, because he was not practicing the kata at home, and he was soposed to be studding more of our internal stuff, like memorizing what Damage is caused, and the antidotes for the pressure point striking. It looked like he was just loosing interest, He, seemed to be overwhelmed, but he didn't know how to tell me, "i don't know" When this starts to happen, i always take it to heart, like did i do something wrong for him too lose the discipline ect,.

Hi there,
I find that these sort of people use so much energy to do this tricks aswell, considering in fatal combat we only have approx 90 seconds what a wast of time most of these moves are. There are esier ways for someone to sleep using the gall bladder meridain which are far safer dont you think

Tom, I find that, different life style problem come up with most students. Like when the high school guys get there first girl friend. they may bring her in to see him do his stuff. Somtime later, they stat to slowly drift away, or when they find a girl and get married, or the first baby comes. Why?
Because they sometimes come because they want to learn just a little bit, and sometimes because they have time on there hands. some come for exercise maybe to get away from it all and so on. When I started out training back in 1962, I didn't know that I would be here writing articles about pressure points at this old age! We all thing at the start of your training, we will become Bruce Lee or something like that. But with some, other things we come to love slowly take first place and the training takes second then third, then fouth then fifth place till there is no place left for it. The few that stay training for the greater part of there life, just love it! Most people would rather party than train hard, so in life, they can't become Bruce Lee's, or anything special. They settle for normal, super natural takes lots of time and work and thought. We all wish we could some day be super natural and many people have a grand EGO and thing unrealistically that they are! Tom think about it, how many time have you met someone ( the hot shot) That knew it all, Who talked and talked and talked about his instructor and how good he is or was. Like he had it all! This used to happen over and over to me.
Here's a fun story, I think I tolled you that after work, I would take time out, to have a coffee and read, every day at a local coffee shop. I met a lot of charactors at this place, one of them, a guy who Would bug me every day about how great he was and that his instructor was so great and so on, you know the type. One day, he started his speach once again and started to get pushy, I was starting to get a little pissed but before I did, I said lets have a little test. I'm going to put my finger up your nose, lets see if you can (block) stop me before I do! ready put your hands up nw, ready, oh you weren't ready, we'll try again, oppps get ready now opps, didn't your instructor teach you how to block. After the third time Of putting my finger up his nose, he got the picture. The nexted day I was surprized when he came in to the coffee shop with dinner for me and a, Im sorry. EGO! it's a Bitch, If you've got one It will beat you like a rented mule till you get rit of it. Most come to feed there ego and that's the wrong foundation, It alway causes men to fall short of realistic goals. Thats why they leave. But if you can train just one, good one, in a life time, it's worth it. and look at all the free practice partners you get!
