Something to think about...

If you saw someone on the street (total stranger) in need of help,
Would you try to help?

YOU SHOULD HELP IF YOU ARE A TRUE MARTIAL ARTIST. THERE ARE TO MANY PEOPLE WHO LOOK THE OTHER WAY.
I HAVE HAD TO STEP IT TO A FEW SITUATIONS BEFORE. IT'S VERY  DANGEROUS TO DO THIS. ANYONE CAN HAVE A GUN.  THAT IS WHY MOST PEOPLE PRETEND NOT TO SEE IT OR DECIDE NOT TO HELP. MOST PEOPLE LIVE IN FEAR OF THESE THINGS. MORE PEOPLE SHOULD STUDY MARTIAL ARTS. MOST PEOPLE THINK IT WON'T HAPPEN TO THEM AND WHEN IT DOES THEY ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO HELP THEM IT'S BETTER TO LEARN HOW TO HELP YOURSELF THEN TO LOOK FOR OTHERS TO HELP YOU. THATS WHY THE SHARP SHOOTER KEY CHAIN IS A GOOD THING TO HAVE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO STUDY MARTIAL ARTS. I MADE IT TO SAVE LIVES.

I would most likely try to help the person in need by screaming at the assailant so the criminal would run away.  If that doesn't help I would call the police.

I would try to help the victim by attempting to scare the attacker by any means necessary.  As Christopher stated attackers are cowards and only want quick money.

Would your actions change if you saw that the attacker had a knife or gun or any other weapon for that matter?

I have found myself in this situation from time to time. most of the time, All but cnce shouting did the trick. One time the man charge me and I used a v hand to the adam's apple which sent him backwards about fifteen feet landing on his back. but thats the way I'm made. You can only do what is instincual, and you may put your self at risk. A person will do what he will do, no matter what he thinks he is capable of doing. I guess you should do what your heart tells you to do, that would be the safe thing to do.

Well if the attacker had a knife or gun i would most likely not risked my life, i'm not cop nor superhero she should just give the guy her money, Though if the attacker was trying do something besides take her money like rape her i would have to try to help because i couldn't live with the guilt i think.

I wouldn't want to get shot so I'd say i wouldn't interfere and she should just give her purse to the guy and thank god she's alive.

I would definitely help them.
I could never just let something like that happen and just sit back and watch or something.
It would always be on my mind.

First I would call the cops, secondly I would go help them (especially if it were a woman) not sure if I would help a male unless I knew 100% he was an innocent victim... You never really know whats going on these days..

Give the bad guy what he wants.  Your purse, wallet, watch, keys, whatever.  He/she only wants your money or car, whatever.  Just because I'm a martial artist doesn't make me wonder woman.  Yell, scream, distract Mr. bad guy anyway you can.  He/she doesn't want attention, just money or whatever you have of value.

I once asked my son when he was about 9 or 10, also a martial arts student: What would you do if we were walking to our car at the mall and someone jumped out of nowhere and said "Give me your purse!"  He said I'd jump on his back, scratch his eyes out, bit his ears, I'll protect you Mom!  I smacked him right upside the head and said "Are you crazy???"   Ask him that same question today and he'll say "I'd run for help, you can hold your own for the few minutes it takes for reinforcements".  Now, I'd still give Mr. bad guy my bags, purse whatever he wants, I'd throw it past him, so he has to turn his back to me and I can run in the opposite direction.  Mall parking lots are usually heavily populated, someone's gonna notice, someone's gonna call for help.
