Good questions, I studied many types of martial arts, some soft some hard and found that 1)the movemnts of the hands are very much alike in nature. although a hand movement may be the same, one art will say it is used this way and another art would see it another way, as if they were all a part of one complete art. threading them all together, I new that they all had a common begining at some point and time, an worked to answer that question for myself.I found that all martial arts had been designed by nature but when you try to teach it to someone, you loss it's essence. For all movements comes from a natural reaction to protect and a will to servive. 2)In addition I ajusted foot work stratgey and found that it was yet to be found in any art as yet. I form all this knowledge into a kata (form) called Shin Shu Ryu. and in addition the better training methods found in all the arts. Shin Shu mean opening of the mind or widening of the mind. example; you can not teach someone to stop a punch by saying when I punch you block with a double bone block because from then on he will have to see it coming. Instead, explode the punch without warning, striking the head, if he blocks the attack it is always correct. In the same way the whole structure and stratagy of the whole bodys machanics move to put the opponent in harms way as a natural reaction. Common instruction today fails to do this. Instructors today try to find breakthroughs to that very problem in all the arts. I have tryed to solve the problem too natures way. because the first mother & son hand movement can be useed in many ways but that matter liitle if you have not train to use it in an atempt to servive but from there it may be understood in many ways. I hope that this will answer your question.

Scott is now learning the essence of Shin Shu Ryu. Before this he has already had learned Shorin Ryu To a high level already.  But Shin Shu Ryu Is not based on any style or known system. It's concentration is on the mother & son original hand forms. And the crane pastures and the foot work transends all systems and in places the foot work has never been seen ever. About 5 people have tried to learn the form, only two people have learned it. but as far as knowing how it works there is only I.The reason is there are about 106 movements each movement is a kata. Each single movement has a un-number-able application, one movement, mastered, is a full system and again there is about a hundred and six of them although scott can perform the form, and has one maybe two applications for each move, It is un realized in total. That is not his falt, he is not abe to contain all the possiblitys, of a movement. As you mite know, when a teach demo's a movement out of a kata, he may show no application, one application and how it might be used, others teacher may say it's right, others may say it's wrong other may combine the two and so on. this happen's because the core has been lost to time. Example; Nahanchi shodan ( hogan form) has know cross over step it just steps to the left into a nahanchi or house stance. later forms have a cross over stance before striking. One will say the hogan way is wrong and an other will say the cross over step is wrong but they are all wrong, because they are all right!!!  To apply the first hand technique, you need to know how to cheat the attacker of his timing, power and balance. If the attacker is walking in, you might step back into a horse stance ( which makes the walk in weak) and apply the first hand movement or you may do a quick cross over step to intersept the attacker( which would corrupt his timing)! If this is true, why is Nahanchi demo-ed with one or the other according to the system?  because, the core has been lost, and the teacher's can not transend there singlar thinking, or does not have the mental space in his mind to hold it all. I am not placing blame on any party. It's just human nature, But it will cause mental feeze ups, and bring them problems. like when men say my style's better than yours! Or my teacher is better than yours. So the core's theory of any movement, is what ShinShu Ryu  is all about. It meaning is vast mind or opened thinking that is what Shin Shu Ryu means. Vast mind style.

Now that, that has been said, If there are ten versions of chinto and you practice one, it would be a very great mistake to say, That other systems virsion are incorrect! this places a block in the mind of the one speaking it and the one hearing it. and they will never realize the fullness of there Kata. It would be better to ask, why is that systems version different from the one I was shown? This is the essence of Shin Shu Ryu, It opens new doors unlock what is closed. In this way, a single small kata, can, in time, become a full system. it doesn't have to be a long kata like Tai chi, it can be small like Nihanchi shodan But mastery is never how many it (kata) it is how deep!!!!!!

The conclusion; is that every posture is never in a state of deep freeze. example; In Nahanchi Shodan The fist over fist horse stance posture, ( Horse stance, Right fist palm up, on right side, amd left arm across body, it's fist on top of right fist) The grand majority of system that practice this kata say that this is a prep posture. In Shin Shu Ryu, there are at this time, 12 applications (techniques) for this posture! some, I discovered and some came from applications in other martial arts other than karate and some from students in class. And through the year, one or two have gotten out to you the public.  The real differents between my system and others is that in Shin Shu Ryu, The above fist over fist posture will never be frozen two 12 techniques The 12 will  be mastered of course but the discovery factor is open ended to all students so they learn to have an open mind about postures. and this has been a difficult thinking process to bring to people who have already be corupted by instructors who would  have there students think that what they are learning is right and other are wrong.  This foundational thinking brings many problem along with it. Shin Shu Ryu gives a student the freedom to think and grow. So it may be seen by them in time that the fist punch that they learned as a white belt, can be a punch a block a grab and pull, a rear elbow strike a punch-block a block-punch, ect. A single middle punch is only limited be the users mind. If the middle punch is mastered, and all aplications are known, it maybe possible to fight with just one or two mastered techniques!

Posture is a key factor, all most all school teach an on guard posture. It protects the upper frontal area or gate of the body, also it leave the other parts of the body open for attack. and if hold this posture when an attack come in, the attacker will formulate the attack to the open areas. If the person gets hit, it was because he didn't know to sift to the next posture or how to block or stike out of the original posture. In Goju ryu there are four postures which teach a way of protection and there are inner movements for blocking and striking. Posture is a key factor to the system. then there is an advance thinking on posture. example; if the attacker will strike at open area of the body an advanced study will teach that if the fight is on going, and your strike are always being bocked because the opponent is alway changing postures, change striking the closed area rather than the opened area! but first you must learn the posture and how they work and what they telegraph to the attacker. This makes the attacker more prodictable as he attacks your posture must sift and open becomes closed and so on. In SHIN SHU RYU all is posture.
